The days of gaming for the single purpose of having fun are becoming quite limited. In modern times, we want a little more out of our games. Sure it is still fun, at the core of every gamer's soul lies the word fun. However, surrounding that core we also have the need to scare the socks off ourselves from time to time. While shooting the biggest guns and taking out the strangest, most mind melting creatures. This, my friends, is the heart of Bioshock. Such a strange world lies within the Bioshock universe. Only those who have played the game know exactly what I mean, if you have not experienced this then luckily for you the Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition was packaged just for you!

The Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition includes both, the original Bioshock game and Bioshock 2. Beyond that, it also includes both sets of downloaded add-on content. For those of you with a desire that runs deeper than playing the game, there is something even more special. "The Museum of Orphaned Concepts" is an opportunity to take a closer look inside the creation of your favorite horror first-person shooter. This is the very beginning of Bioshock, a glimpse into early development. Here you will see some of the original concepts that did not make it into the final product.

Since this is a duel packaged game, let us go ahead and breakdown the gist of each. Bioshock was released August of 2007, by 2K games, a sci-fi first-person shooter that takes place in 1960. The game pulls off an eerie old-time vibe, yet also manages to apply a futuristic theme. You are located at the bottom of the ocean in a city known as Rapture. The game follows an extremely deep story line, you will hear all about it within the audio transmissions you come across as you play. Paying close attention you should be able to put most of it together. Rapture seems like a dream society, but eventually you discover the ugliness that is plagued within. Genetic monstrosities roam the undersea city because of a powerful gene-altering tool known as ADAM. This leads you to plasmid powers, which when possessed you will gain special abilities including shooting lighting from your hands! However, use your plasmids with care, as overuse of plasmids can lead to instability and mental addiction. Collecting and combining plasmid energies ADAM and EVE is crucial, as is the way you customize your character. Doing this gives you different abilities like shooting fire, ice, and more. Bioshock has a mysterious vibe riddled within and can only truly be met through first-hand experience.

In Bioshock 2, you are welcomed back to the bizarre world of Rapture. The setting is ten years after the events of the first title. The heart of this game is based on the same successful components from the first. You have the same style of gameplay, combinations of powers and weapons; add that to a secret filled world with a continued mind blowing story. All the elements are there. Familiar enemies will challenge you yet again, from Splicers to Big Daddies, who have evolved and make your quest quite challenging. Bioshock 2 delivers just as much as the first and still remains creative, creepy, and intriguing. In turn, it leaves you wanting more as you progress throughout the game. The Bioshock series is a rare game that is able to combine an extremely creative story with the action packed thrill that gamers love.
