Finally, the gaming developers have now realized that a World War II setting for a first person shooting game has been worn out. Now, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has given us a new and feasible setting that is fresh and interesting to gamers. The story and the setting are really good and breathtaking. The features and the guns that you can use are truly amazing.
There is one catch with the campaign mode, though. It is surprisingly too short. The whole game, when played with a reasonable level of skill, only takes less than five hours to finish and an increase in the level of difficulty does nothing other than make the enemies more dangerous; the story remains the same.
The game compensates for the lack of single player game time by the quality of the time you spend in it. Mainly, the game is presented in different perspectives. You can play as a British SAS soldier as well as a member of the US Marine Corps. The campaign has several scenarios from a sinking ship, to a town in the Middle East and up to a missile silo where you have to stop a nuclear missile from killing millions. There are also some stunning scenarios in the game where you are like what the?! I did not expect that.
The gameplay is very straightforward and easy to understand. You have a compass that you can use where the objectives that you have to complete are also placed, so there's no chance for you to get lost. However, getting to a location is not a walk in the park, as you have to traverse your way along enemy lines. The game gives you the opportunity to raid the enemy, use a disguise, and use a bush-like ghillie suit and crawl away from an enemy patrol. But as cool as the scenes are, you still wish that attaining the objectives would take longer.
There are several tactical features in the game including tossing frag grenades or flash bangs. There is the UAV feature where you can tell the location of enemies for 30 seconds. You can also call an airstrike or a helicopter in the game. These features are used in the multi player mode of the game. There are also different types of maps and suite with different types of weapons and guns. Be sure to adapt to the environment. In the multiplayer mode, there are six different games to choose from. The most common are Team Deathmatch and Free-for-all Deathmatch. The others are more objective-oriented. And even in the multiplayer mode, there are still lots to work on because you also gain experience in the level. You can improve your weapon of choice by completing challenges in the multiplayer mode. The experience and your rank also dictate which perks you can use in the multiplayer. The higher your experience or rank, the stronger you get.
COD 4 is also on DS, Xbox and PC. Each version is good. The difference in each is too insignificant to be noticed. The systems are the same in all versions. The real deal in the game can hardly be conveyed perfectly by mere words. You have to play it to know how great the game is. The playing experience is quite unique. Don't miss this game!
