Xbox 360

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a science fiction military first-person shooter which was developed by Beenox and Mercenary Technology and later published by Activision. This is the twelfth installment in the Call of Duty franchise and this game is the sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

What we know about the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions from the developers.

"Ubisoft announced back in June that Beenox and Mercenary Technology have been working tirelessly to bring as much of the Black Ops III gameplay as possible to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Black Ops III PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, no Campaign mode. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware"

Restrictions (Xbox 360, PS3)

This game on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 requires an internet connection, those wanting to play this without establishing an internet connection will not be able to play this title, without downloading an additional 8GB’s of data in order to play. There is no Campaign mode, no 1-4 local co-op, no story, and no single player campaign mode. The game only has two modes of play, zombies and multiplayer.

Next Generation the way to go.

I suppose it was inevitable that eventually the next generation consoles would make it impossible to be replicated on the older consoles, this being the first prime example, technology moves on, hence the limitations on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. There is little else to say on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 other than, don’t waste your money.

No limitations of the modern next gen consoles including a storyline.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III takes place in the year 2065, about forty years after the events of Black Ops II. Several countries dotted around the globe have developed very high-tech air defenses that now render air assaults completely useless. So the fighting between countries is now done by covert stealth operatives fighting behind enemy lines as the war rages on. Science coupled with technical advancements have drastically changed both the landscape as well as the future of the human race as a whole, with society now violently protesting and attempting to stop further advancements in technology deemed by scientists as "progress". The technology in this particular time period has advanced so much that even the population who inhabit this society feel more like machines than actual a human race. The main focus on gameplay is you follow a team of black ops soldiers like in the original Black Ops series and a story driven campaign which shows the overall objectives and missions. You must navigate the new Cold War to find your missing brothers. While much has changed, one thing remains the same: everything you know may be wrong.

Movement Systems

Black Ops III features a new fluid movement system that allows players to move through the environment with more control and ease, using controlled thrust jumps, power slides, wall-running, swimming, and fast mantling capabilities - all with complete control over their character. Players also maintain full control of their weapon and have 360-degree rotation during these maneuvers.

Specialist Overview

There is a new Specialist character system which allows players to choose from a number of elite black operations soldiers - each with their own look, personality, and voice - and then rank them up and master each of their battle-hardened weapons and special abilities. With this addition to Global and Weapons XP progressions systems, Black Ops 3 multiplayer gives players three different ways to rank up.

Games Modes

There are various types of game modes in Black Ops III: (some only available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC)

Team Deathmatch, Demolition Domination, Freerun, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Search and Destroy, Capture the Flag, Uplink, Ground War, Mercenary Moshpit, Gun Game, Free for All, Shadow of Evil, Campaign Mode, amongst others not listed or in development.

An example or four of the different types of game modes.

Team Deathmatch

Two teams of four to six players who face off against each other in a match to the death. The first team to reach 75 kills within the 10 minute time limit will win. If the time runs out before the 75 kills are attained then the team with the most kills wins.

Two teams of four to six players must defend two bomb sites from the opposing attack team. Your defense must stop the bomb sites from being destroyed within the 2:30 minute time limit in order to win the round.

Four to eight players face each other in a fight to the death. The first player to reach 30 kills within the 10 minute time limit will win. If the time runs out, the player with the most kills wins.

This is a new game mode and involves no fighting whatsoever. Your job is to clear the course in the fastest time possible by jumping, sliding, running, and shooting barriers in order to complete the course as fast as possible.

13 Multiplayer Maps

In addition to the game modes are 13 Multiplayer Maps.

Nuk3town, Combine, Stronghold, Hunted, Evac, Redwood, Aquarium, Breach, Exodus, Fringe, Havoc, Infection, and Metro.

Shadow of Evil (Zombies)

Set in 1940s in a fictional city, Shadows of Evil is a film-noir-inspired horror story centered around four particularly troubled individuals - the Magician, the Femme Fatale, the Cop and the Boxer and spans an entire metropolis that is swathed in evil and chaos. Each of the four characters awaken to a nightmarish world overrun by the undead. Each character fights to overcome confusion and amnesia - in the hope that they may piece together the events that brought them to this twisted world. Black Ops 3 will also allow players to seamlessly switch between these campaigns, multiplayer, and zombies without the need to switch menus.

Nightmares (New Game Mode)

Nightmares is a brand new game mode that mixes both the Campaign along with the Zombies mode. You play through the Campaign missions fighting the same enemies mixed with zombies. Weapons must be scavenged on the map and all areas need to be thoroughly checked.

The actual movement within Black Ops III has greatly improved along with the graphics along the way, the overall experience is much more solid this time round, with move entertainment to boot. The overall perks and systems, upgrades, weaponry modification and the countless online fun makes for a worthy title when played on the PC, PS4 or Xbox One.

This game is worth the price tag of the upcoming next generation consoles and also the PC, for those looking for a tidy experience should stay well clear of the older consoles, largely as you will be disappointed, even outraged at the lack of modes missing.
