DuckTales is based on the very popular TV series aptly named DuckTales, featuring Scrooge McDuck and his three nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie. Back in the eighties and nineties Disney put together a block of programs called the Disney Afternoon where they would have all kinds of cartoons on for a two hour stint with DuckTales and Darkwing Duck, Tailspin Chipendales, Rescue Rangers and a few others. Capcom decided to license these shows and make a game out of them. All the games I have played based on the Disney Afternoon lineup have been amazing.

The main character behind this remastered high definition game is Scrooge McDuck, an avid treasure hunter, who, along with his three nephews and various other cooky characters, go on treasure seeking adventures. The game picks up the feel of the TV show perfectly. You play Scrooge looking for a number of hidden treasures for no reason other than he wants more money; well what other reason is there? He can also find ice cream to increase his health rating. No kiddies, it does not really make you healthy! Now I said there are a number of treasures and so there are several locations to choose from, and you can choose them in any order you want.

Now the visuals look outstanding just like they were taken straight out of a cartoon, which they are I suppose, it really is the perfect adaptation of the original series. Scrooge can pogo on his cane on his travels throughout the world, which is fun but, unfortunately, at times when you press the button to pogo it does not pogo but, luckily, for most of the time this was not an issue. Scrooges cane is a multi purpose gadget because as well as using it as a pogo stick and means of transport he can also use his cane to smash things up or attack his enemies. It is also useful to jump up to higher platforms. There is even a tutorial on how to use the stick to best advantage.

Now there are secrets to find everywhere but it is not very hard to find them because on every level that you explore, if there is ever a something that looks out of place or just makes no sense for it to be there, check it and you will either find a secret passageway or hidden gems. Now there are three difficulty levels, Easy, Normal, and Hard, in easy mode you get unlimited lives but on the other two modes you get only limited lives as well getting increased damage from your enemies. So if you want to play on easy mode you can beat the game in about two and a half hours.

There is a story running through the adventure with the Beagle Boys, Baggy, Burger, Bouncer and Big Time attempting to raid Scrooge's money bin. With many characters such as Duckworth, Launchpad, Gyro Gearloose and Fenton Crackshell. The adventure is spread across many locations from the Himalayas where our heroes must find the crown of Genghis Khan to the Moon where they must seek the Green Cheese of Longevity. But revealing the zany plot would spoil your enjoyment

DuckTales overall is fantastic, the controls are smooth for the majority of the game, I only had one or two issues within the whole game. The visuals are stunning, and it really makes you wish you could be in the cartoon. All things considered I would give this 8.5 out of ten. A really good overall Cartoonish style game, a really good old-fashioned platformer brought back to life.
