FIFA 08 Soccer PSP User Review
Super Gamer Dude
For those who are deep into the EA sports, they will definitely enjoy PSPs Fifa Soccer 08. It is quite obvious that the developer knew what to do with their hardware and it would not be fair to call this PSP offering a disappointment. The gamer can enjoy playing a handheld football game which offers a satisfying online multiplayer mode. There are also the multiple game modes which data can be easily transferred on to the PSP 2. Although this handheld version does not level up to the home console version, this is definitely a fun game to play.
A lot of EA Sports has been crammed exclusively into the PSP. There are the basic offerings of quick matches and tournaments, but the auxiliary modes add a lot to the appeal for the games. One good example is the football IQ where there is a short quiz about football and the player gets to answer and earn points. If the questions are answered well then the team can dribble the ball in the direction of the goal but if the answer is wrong, then the ball can roll away from the said goal. In order for the ball to reach the goal successfully, the gamer has to answer two difficult trivia questions. Of course the question starts off really easy but as the levels increase so does the level of difficulty.
For those who have no internet connection, this should not pose a problem for them. There are a lot of features which do not need the internet. These features are carried over from the previous versions like the challenge mode and the manager mode. The challenge mode is now bigger and exciting while the manager mode gives the player the chance to manage their own club including the training of the players as well as having to deal with the pesky media.
The Fifa 08 also includes numerous mini games like juggling which is very similar to that of the Wii version. Then there are the old training games where the goal is to keep the ball up in the air for a very long time. There is also the Wall attack where the player has to volley the ball up against a wall and needs to knock down brick in order to score some points. To make it more challenging, there are bricks with symbols which need to be knocked down.
Although the Fifa 08 offers a lot of great features, some would criticize the gameplay itself and could even label it as a game which lacks solidity. They would also be quick to mention the imperfect control system which is basically really the fault of the PSP itself. There are also times where the animation can appear blocky or pixelated during the game. Otherwise, this is a fun game and should not be disappointing for those who do not mind a PSP quirk or two.
