In God of War Chains of Olympus on the PSP, the ancient world speaks of a mortal that slayed a God. But long before his battle with Ares, Kratos sought absolution from his past sins by pledging himself as a champion to the Gods. These brutal crusades in the name of Olympus became legendary. The Ghost of Sparta is now ordered by the Gods to journey the underworld, after the world plunges into darkness. There he must face the most feared creatures of Greek Mythology and is forced to choose between his own personal redemption and saving the ancient world from certain destruction.

A lot of games make the transition from PS3 to PSP and screw everything that made them a good game into a rubbish game. This is not the case with God of War Chains of Olympus. Kratos has been saved by Ares and is now working on his way back, doing his bidding of Olympus.

This game simply starts out in Attica and Kratos is helping defend the city against the attacks of the Persian forces. You will essentially chase down the Persians' basilisk through the city, which will eventually end is an epic boss battle. Then the real story end, which I won't dare spoil it for you. It is really engaging and gives Kratos more of character which adds to the story from the first God of War.

The first thing you will notice about the game is the environments and graphics are absolutely amazing. The lighting is absolutely amazing too. The game actually looks almost as good as it did on the console. But what is more impressive is the combos work just as they did on console versions, which means you are really getting a great console game on your PSP. I mean it seems to be a mirror image of the gameplay, just like God of War for PS2.

Combat is exactly what you will be getting with any God of War game and this is exactly what you will be getting with this game. The game is pretty much straightforward, in the sense that it is linear. True there are couple secrets or times when you can go off the path, but you will quickly find your way back on the path again. Not to mention there are also times when you might find yourself surrounded by a number of enemies and you have to kill them in order to get out of a room.

While there are no new characters they do come with previous characters with various abilities. All which come with there own attacks and defenses it still works well with the game. It would have been nice to see more new enemies, but it is mixed up enough to where it is not distracting. There is always something to do in God of War Chains of Olympus, and you will always find yourself in a battle or moving through the stunning environments. Not to mention, there will be a plethora of puzzles to solve.

The boss fights were a little bit of a let down for me. I just feel that a boss should be something huge and you only really fight one that is gigantic, which is Cyclopes. The other bosses you fight don't really match the level of fun that Cyclopes was, but still the other bosses are fine, I guess.

This game lives up to all its hype and more. I really love this game and wouldn't trade it for the world. There is never a dull moment and you will try to put it down for a bit, but if you are like me will find yourself playing it into the night while you should be sleeping.
