Trivial information has been the basis of a lot of games, from Trivial Pursuit to guessing games. The Guinness World Records Video game is a game that can make trivial information something to become more of a challenge. And fortunately, challenge is fun, for any age.

The longest hair, the longest line made on a bridge, the longest chicken barbeque stand, the smallest room and the private cemetery in the middle of a national highway. All these trivial information are recorded by one main source, the Guinness Book of World Records. Constantly updated, this book of knowledge takes down everything that is going on around the world.

And this is what makes it more than challenging for some. The game is a collection of small games or mini-games. The player will be made to customize their own personal avatar and go around a cartoon Earth, specifically onto 12 famous landmarks where each of the games can be started from.

Each of the mini-games is designed to make you beat the existing world record. So this means that if you have to build a longer chicken barbeque stand, then you build one. If you can find or build an even smaller room to beat the world’s smallest room, then you do it. From the ground up if need be.

There are also puzzle games which involve blocks which are similar to the Tetris. You have to assemble them to create your own skyscraper. Each floor has to be perfectly built so they look like a real skyscraper, not a joke of one.
There is another game called the Tattoo where painting the screen fast involves a lot of things, including recognizing the different colors and to color the client the right colors they should appear as.

For those who like to have party games, this is a great option to consider. The guest can play against one another or in teams as they try to beat the world records. They can also go for shooting games which are reminiscent of the simple shooting games, but still they are highly satisfying, even for single players. This takes some skill, yes, but this game is all about fun and creativity. Getting other players to strive to beat a record, their own, the world’s or their friend’s records. It can be so time consuming that spending hours in front of it is not surprising.

Some may wonder what the Guinness Book of World Records is doing in a video game. But the truth is, not everyone likes violent video games. There are millions out there who likes to get challenged in a different way.

This game has been developed by a team that knows exactly what is involved to entertain consumers who likes mini-games. They have successfully translated the tome of knowledge into a fun, exciting and challenging game. For sure some would dismiss it as a parlor game and maybe they are right. It is not an arcade, it is not violent, and neither is it stealth and strategy. It is instead a game of challenge that can only be found at a personal level. This, I may say truthfully, is one experiment gone right.
