Legendary is about the character Charles Deckard who is a thief who gets tricked into inserting an object into a golden box by a mysterious employer called LeFey. What Deckard does not know is that this particular golden box is none other than the infamous Pandora's Box which in myth, held all of the evil in the world. As the box is opened, Deckard releases the supernatural evils out onto the world. Unsurprisingly, this will result to chaos, destruction and the potential extinction of mankind.
As Deckard struggles to find out and understand the depth of his actions, he and Vivian, an associate of LeFey, are left to fend for their lives and humanity. It is now up to Deckard and the double crossed Vivian to defeat LeFey's evil plans and to return the beasts back into Pandora's Box.
With this story line alone it is easy to assume that this game could have gone farther than it actually has but unfortunately, the story was underdeveloped and this led to a gameplay which is very limited. The game lasts about 10 hours where the characters are seen to move from New York to London and then back to New York once again.
The disappointment is in the lack of the surprise element for the gamer can actually predict what would happen next. Although the gamer is left satisfied with their being able to destroy the enemy creatures and to get over some of the tasks set before them, there is a restriction to the game that makes the adventure a bit disappointing.
It also does not help that there are a lot of technical issues met by the PS3 owners which are really confusing. First, it takes 10 minutes for installation and then on the next installation it only takes a few seconds. Why this happens is not known. Then there is the drop of the frame rate in the PS3 compared to the Xbox 360 version.
In the end, Legendary has what it takes to be a great game with the interesting story line and the numerous adventures, not to mention the freaky monsters like the obvious favourite, the werewolves. But the gameplay lacks development and feels incomplete that it ends up boring in the end. For those who are seeking a shooter game, this is not the game to play because even if Legendary sounds great, it is not what it ends up being.
