Just like in the movie, the game started with the main characters setting out of Madagascar because king Julien think that his greatness should be recognized around the world. Like the movie, they ride a plane piloted by the penguins with purpose of returning to New York but they had engine trouble and instead landed in Africa. Julien is the center of the show, humoring everybody at the expense of his lowly servant Mort.

Though the difference in the original voices is notable but the fun and the tone of the story and the characters is constant all throughout the game. The game is fast moving, letting the player move from one platform to another. The games are not too complicated and can be played in shorter span of time but the fun is always there. Shorter games made Madagascar 2 highly recommended such as when the player’s character is Alex, he will be given a task to join a group of lions to prove that he is a king. He needs to fulfill his tasks to succeed such as riding in zip lines, play ball with mangoes, compete with musical chairs, stay away from vultures and climb walls.

There are no boring moments in the game despite of its simple ideas. The pacing is great for the entire game. Other games involve other characters too. As for Melman there are boulders riding and whacking moles attempting to get the suitcases and also the task of curing all the giraffes affected with belly fish. As for Marty, there are soccer games and speed testing in a form of races for him to prove that he is the fastest. As for the penguins they will be riding in trucks and making flying apparatus for Julien.

For Gloria, there will be whipping of mangoes to get rid of crocodiles and when they are gone she can explore to look for chili peppers and hidden fancy pearls. There are so many twists during the game but the good thing is the controls are excellent no matter what the player will do because it is highly responsive. But the enjoyment does not stop in the short games because as the game progresses there are much varied and longer tasks.

Some of the quests are fun to play once but the longer games are worth to be replayed. The main characters had specific abilities to continue their tasks and blend in the environment. There is also a great mini golf game with big playing area. The punishment for not completing a task is no more than a slap that is why first time younger players and children can greatly adapt to the game.
