Midnight Club: LA Remix is a game that expresses mere emotions of racing cars. The game is quite a complicated game because of its mixed concept of a weak storyline with the trash talks and extreme characters depicted within, the only apparent purpose of which is to motivate you to finish the race and destroy your opponents. The problem of this new version of Midnight Club is the long wait that you have to endure for screens to properly load throughout the game. At least the video game creators made a stunning change that remove the previous frame rate and weird side stories problems of the Midnight Club’s Dub Edition.
The races in this game provide you with a total racing experience. Just don’t rest on your laurels as your opponents can easily take advantage of your mistakes and weaknesses and they can come real hard against you.
Wise usage of shortcuts gives you the lead but the AI’s don’t easily give up. They really pose some challenge that can make you sweat it out before you can claim victory. The trash-talking opponents often distract you from your concentration, but despite all the dirty tactics that your opponent’s make, winning the race comes easy with the timely use of the turbo boost and definitely gives that explosive and satisfying feeling.
In truth, this game, especially the career challenge is pretty tough. However, the LA Remix is just so good that once you start playing, you feel the exciting emotions that the game depicts and provides. With the simple controls of a PSP unit, you have the advantage of controlling your car amazingly well despite the tricky race tracks in the game.
The game is situated in downtown Los Angeles where the meanest and the fastest racers are. The game is all about getting as much rep before you take on the finest LA racers around. This makes the game a lot like an RPG because you have to earn rep to make you famous in the racing world. Earning a very high rep is your passport to becoming the best racer in LA. Being a lot like an RPG game, you have to bear the process of earning reps. You have to constantly race and win!
An interesting aspect of the game is the option of customizing your vehicles. This makes the game more appealing as you would want to save money just for your car. You can personalize your car by painting it and putting some aesthetic designs such as sprucing it up with some side skirts. You can also customize and improve your engine as you try to experiment on your car’s ability to increase speed and handling.
Constantly playing the game helps increase your skill in the game. You gain more confidence as you easily cruise your way against your AI opponents. However, when you do not want to rely on your driving skill, you may want to rely on your car’s special abilities and power ups such as vehicle launching and zone ability that are used to slow you down in tight corners but can give you a burst of speed right after.
You can play the game with your friends through the ad-hoc multiplayer. You may find the different modes of the game stimulating as you challenge all 58 well-tuned cars in the game. Other modes that you can dabble with include the mode of Painting the City before the time expires or the mode of Capture the Flag with your friends.
The game is really fun. It poses difficult challenges as you try to gain more reps. You may experience frequent restarting because your opponents are so good and the tracks are so difficult; yet, you don’t feel inclined to stop playing this game. The game just gives a unique racing experience that you cannot forego. If you have a PSP unit, be sure that you include this game in your collection.
