Xbox 360

MX vs ATV Reflex on the Xbox 360 is an attempt to combine arcade racing with simulation racing. The result is a racing game that is offers outlandish tricks and finely tuned environments. It is thrilling, packed with content, and features intuitive controls. Good the words may be, you must have a good deal of patience if you intend to play this game.

You might think that because of the name you drive only bikes and quads. More so, you get to take around UTV’s, sports trucks, and buggies as they part of the game’s large collection of races and events. Each of the vehicles has different qualities that offer different driving experiences. Improvements in the game include rider control and track deformation. Visually, you get to experience the realness of the game. however, you will notice that no matter how much dirt accumulates in your wheels or no matter how much your tires dig into the land, your vehicle’s handling and speed don’t demonstrate that much. This is more evident when driving a large vehicle. Still, what Reflex has done is an innovation for similar games.

Another addition is the dual stick rider control. You take charge of your vehicle with the left stick and with the right stick, your rider. Lean to turn, lean back for a preload to jump, and lean forward to climb hills or turn your bike right in mid – air. Use also the stick to execute tricks. The gaming system is unique and downright satisfying.

However, the physics system is downright chaotic and unpredictable; there are times that when you are enjoying your ride in a muddy road when you hit a random stone or whatever distraction the game has put in there and your vehicle tumbles down several times like it has no weight. This is extremely irritating especially when it happens near the finish line.

Sounds vary between engines, the music play list is mostly filled with hard rock and screaming vocals that not all gamers might appreciate. The games new controls, terrain deformation, and number of events make it one fun racing game. Even with its little flaws I think this is pretty good game though.
