NBA 2K16 lets basketball fans hit the court with updated features, new classic teams, and a story-driven mode written and directed by Spike Lee. The action features all the real teams and players from the 2015-16 NBA season, as well as a dozen new classic teams like the 2003-04 Pistons and the 2012-13 Miami Heat, and 25 different squads from the Euroleague. Reminiscent of Lee's film He Got Game, the new story in MyCareer mode puts players in the role of a star high-school basketball player as he navigates a world filled with talent, opportunity, and temptation.

NBA 2K16 is the latest basketball simulation video game which was developed by Visual Concepts and later published by 2K Sports. This latest NBA 2K franchise is the successor to NBA 2K15 which appeared just over one year ago to this very date. This latest release, that being NBA 2K16 was released on September 29, 2015 across a multitude of consoles including the next generation.

NBA 2K16 main objective is to simulate the experience of the National Basketball Association also known for short as NBA. In effect, the gamer can play NBA with real or created players, or they might adopt to play as teams in various different game modes, an example might be the MyCareer Mode, MyTeam. Players may decide to play regular season, playoff games, Summer League games, and many others allowing the gamer to get value for money. As well as all the standard leagues there is also Euro League teams.

Players are given the option to create their own physical player, customize it and then take them through a career mode where the main objective is to become the best basketball player of all time across all the teams. The game offers many customization options as I mentioned earlier; the player may choose to customize all aspects of the player, the appearance, the main attributes, and you even have the options to adjust the skill set of any player which is a neat twist.

Depending on which game mode you choose, you are also given the ability to not only customize the game player or players, but also entire teams, this can be adopted on the fly allowing you to literally customize a large proportion of all aspects of the players and teams in general. This really pushes the boundaries and it is nice to see them thinking of the gamers for a change, wanting to actually manage entire teams, players, and even fiddly bits, like the enormous amount of tattoos that can be obtained, no less than 1500.

The developers even went to the extent of actually meeting with leading NBA players in that field in order to obtain valuable information in order to assist them with various game modes, this is evident in MyCareer Mode, even documenting various histories from high school, tournaments and so on in order to increase the gamers experience.

NBA 2K16 can be considered much better than the previous title, each year they seems to ever increase the popularity with the game, even adding tons more things for gamers to partake in, ever increasing the level of authenticity. They really should be commended for this, I suppose it is hard with the greater level of expectation that gamers have placed on the heads of developers, but with good reason I might add, who wants to go backwards?

Another mode that has returned is the MyTeam mode. MyTeam mode was first added with the release of NBA 2k13 and the symmetry is based around building the ultimate basketball team, and maintaining a virtual card collection. In essence, players first have to build their own custom team and then decide on the players, you also get the option to edit and adjust other basketball related edits. You then effectively play with this team in basketball tournament against other players, teams. Players obtain these virtual cards and in turn this will unlock certain players. You also have the option to purchase card packs using Virtual Currency which gives the player random items for them. Cards also have different levels and this allows gamers to see how good the card is. Players can also customize their team on the fly without the need to be at the menu, you may decide to change various players, the main coach, or various little tidbits like mentioned earlier in the review.

Players also have the option should they so wish to create their own brand new team and then may decide to play 5-on-5 against other players online, in effect you play single matches verses other players online, deciding which online users or teams to play against.

The Crew mode is also back and this allows players to customize any of the team logos, colour, the overall playing court designs, jersey styles and certain other basketball related things. Players really have a sense of control is just about all aspects of the game even down to the quirkiest of things to adjust.

You may also decide to Play 5-on-5 against other players using just the regular teams without the need to customize or create your team from scratch, so the option is there as well as the alternative which is a nice addition to have to hand. The regular online modes are called Play Now. In Play Now mode the player levels up as they win more and more games and this in turn pushes the players higher up through the online rankings, to eventually try and obtain supreme basketball status. Obviously the objective here is to win every game.

This title has received positive reviews around the web from almost all top gaming sites and sites of interest, I would agree with the overall opinions around the web, the game is without doubt the best in this field and other basketball franchises will do well to offer an experience which exceeds this little gem of a game.
