Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 also known as PES 2016 to the masses is a football simulation game developed by PES Productions and published by Konami for the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. This latest release is the fifteenth instalment in the Pro Evolution series and this game was released in October 2015 for the above systems mentioned.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 is probably the best football game to date, around the top sites it has received huge appraisals from leading critics and gaming sites alike, IGN editors scored it 9.5 stating "PES 2016 might well be the best football game ever made", it also won awards at the Gamescom 2015 for best sports game. So, with all this hype, is it really that good when place against other leading football franchises such as the FIFA series?
Without a doubt this is a great football game and so is FIFA 16, the only let down that consists within Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 is the commentary is under par, and at times can be quite annoying rather than pleasurable. The only drawback that seem to plague these types of sports games are often with the voice commentary, and this game is no different. The problem stems from the commentary having to almost second guess the position and make a calculated voice over which may seem fitting. The trouble is, often it is not always appropriate, an inconsistency that seem to dominate these types of sports games tome and again.
This is probably the reason as to why it did not get the perfect 10/10 score, it remains just short, perhaps with the next series they release they might adopt more voiceovers based on positioning, rather than having in some cases repetitive commentary. Regardless of this minor flaw there is little else to really complain about.
The game itself plays exactly like a football game should, with realism and drama coupled with a sense of involvement, the physics engine and the AI enhance the realism. They also make smart decisions, these include lots of individual decisions as well as decisions made by working together, giving it that balance feel and more authenticity between matches.
Dynamic Weather Feature.
There has been a new dynamic weather feature which has been added to the matches, this feature will see the weather change during matches, along with more enhanced forms of weather in terms of the graphical presentation.
Unlike previous versions of Pro Evolution, after much demand from the players the developers have finally decided to allow players to take control over the goal celebrations. The player now has the option to choose between celebrating with unique actions via the press of button, or choose a signature celebration when a goal is scored.
PES 2016 is the first to use 'dynamic camera angles', this adds to the overall experience within the game, depending on the ball and its position, the camera will tilt or zoom giving you better perspective within the game.
Revamped Master League.
The heart of where it all matters namely the Master League has also undergone a revamp, in fact one could say it has received a substantial makeover, the Master League has also been given a new Player Transfer System.
On myClub players are purchased via agents as they are known. The player you obtain from these agents is always random, you cannot simply buy a specific player in this mode. These agents are categorized into high and low levels. A lesser agent will usually produce a lower rated player, you can purchase high level agents, and these often come at a much higher cost, the latter often produces better results but there is a limit. Whilst you cannot simply buy the player, you do get the option to decide what type of player you want, no matter what position they play on the pitch.
Ultimate Team has a similar mode which is random and based upon'packs' as opposed to agents. Packs will allow multiple items including cards or multiple players. An agent on myClub will allow one player to be transferred rather than multiple players, you also the option to be able to track players, more so in relation to the value of that player as time progresses from match to match.
Every single element within PES 2016 has undergone a complete overhaul, from the redesign even down to the fiddly bits involving menus, this makeover was largely done after research was carried out by the developers asking users to offer suggestive feedback. This seems to have done the trick, as PES 2016 is better than ever, we feel this is a giant leap forward and only expect better things to come as the series progresses. This game is worth purchasing, you will find it hard not to like this latest release, a big thumbs up from us.
