If you haven't/have ever really played a Battlefield game you will be pleasantly surprised with how much this game has to offer. It actually looks and feels like a mod of Battlefield 2 (which don't get me wrong isn't a bad thing by any means). So this game does come with a wealth of different weapons, maps, kits which make it feel very balanced. I am still trying to unlock them all.
One thing that strikes me as odd about this game is the fact the vehicles aren't really all that much advanced. Don't get me wrong but we don't have a anti-grav tank right now, but some of the vehicles are just jeeps and tanks. Surely, we will have more advanced weaponry in the future. With aside from that the load times are drastically better, in fact the game has been known for long load times this game actually doesn't take nearly as long to load.
This game does come with a variety of flying units. They basically act as a helicopter and thankfully are a lot harder to crash then previous versions of this game. The newest addition to this game was the "Titan mode". This gaming mode will be played in almost different 50 maps. You will not have control points, rather missile silos that are spread across the map. Every now and again they will fire missiles, but you do want to capture them by standing near them. In turn you will have control over these missile silos where you can blast your enemies to death.
The unlock system is new and improved. Ok, I lied it is new and something you have never seen before. Instead of just playing the game for a couple hours and being awarded with points to unlock a few weapons, you are going to have to unlock a bunch of items and weapons. This will take a lot of dedication if there is something you really want. For instance, if you want to unlock the longer sprints you are going to have to plan how you want to unlock it. This makes you really study how you want a class to perform, which is really fun.
There is one bug that does drive me crazy, though. Sometimes when you kill enough enemies and gain medals and stuff you don't get rewarded for it. In fact, I have noticed a lot times it doesn't even show up. Kind of disheartening to know all my work didn't really count. What the hell! It does look and feel pretty good though; I have enjoyed this game online with friends too which doesn't lag at all.
Mass Effect on the PC is simply stunning, from the moment I installed the game I was instantly hooked. I mean who doesn't like to travel the galaxy and kill crazy creatures. It all comes with a DEEP storyline that will have RPG fans calling in sick to work just so they can play it. Not saying I would do that though..lol.
It comes with a great BioWare plot that will captivate science or even Star Wars fans. The graphics are incredible and the environments are deep and rich.
So here is the general idea behind Mass Effect. So, several years in the future some alien technology has been discovered on Mars which makes interstellar travel possible. There is even a UN (United Nations) like council, which is populated by many different kinds of aliens, as well as humans.
So like any good role playing game there is a conflict. The conflict is that a special agent attacked human colony on Eden Prime. You are then set on mission to hunt him down. It wouldn't be all that simple as a number of unpredictable situations take place. You will find yourself traveling around to various alien worlds and engaging in epic fights.
This is a game where you decide if you want to play for good or evil. You can make a variety of choices that will decide your own unique outcome. It is a character interaction game where you can decide your fate. For instance, you can treat aliens or people like crap and end of having to fight them. In contrast, you can talk to people in a nice manner and gain new friends along the way. I like to fight!
The combat system in incredibly deep, you can play as a number of different classes and you will even control two others which you meet as the game goes on. What I like about this game is you can play it fast paced and blast foes to death or you can pause the game and give out tactical commands.
This game does come with a couple of drawbacks. The side quest are a bit of the same old same old. I don't know how many times you are going to get on a ship go somewhere and blast away. It is not to the point where it is excessive, but could use a bit more variety. I did notice that this game did push my Nvidia 8800GTX to its limit, so you will want to make sure you have a top notch graphics card to play this game.
It is a great game and you will get many hours of gameplay out of it. I don't know if it just me but I have already felt that RPG's should be played on the PC not on consoles. A buddy of mine actually got me in this series and told me there are lots of new things he didn't see when he was playing Mass Effect on the Xbox 360.
