The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim is the fifth game in the series and can probably be classed as one of the best role playing games of 2011. The attention to detail is staggering, everything from the weapons, spells, and armor to the overall layout of the characters is impressive. This detail is also carried on throughout the game, from the misty mountains to the stunningly portrayed forests. The sound track which overlays the quest as you battle from one mission to the next also adds to the overall playing experience within the game.

You also have the option to free-roam as well as taking on the various missions, and the game has over 100 hours of gameplay. I still found myself able to obtain upgrades and so forth after such an extensive period of time. The length of this game is simply as astounding as its quality.

For people who have played existing titles such as Elder Scrolls Oblivion and such like, this is a much improved experience with the ironing out of all the previous problems which is frequently encountered with these games. The character integration is very fluent and there is no waiting time as in previous titles after you have engaged in conversation with numerous characters. Before long you also find you have built up quite an extensive amount of side quests and full on missions which helps to settle you into your role.

Another thing which makes Skyrim stand out is the storylines and being able to drastically change how the player is used, with options for upgrades, customizing weapons and leveling. All these are done at the pace of the user making it easy to customize and decide exactly how you plan to play Skyrim. You also have the option of trying out these options beforehand.

During the game you have various weapons and artifacts at your disposal, spells, throw fire, numerous weapons, magical attacks and so on. The gamer also has the option of being able to heal with one hand whilst firing a fireball against an enemy with the other. Or deciding to double the strength of the attack and by using both hands with one weapon. This action doubles the impact of that weapon. In order to cast weapons, the same weapon from both hands, you must acquire dual casting beforehand. It is little things like this that make Skyrim such a pleasure, multiple weapons, or combining weapons, potions, and the effects of using these changes depending on how you apply them together.

You also have options during the game to bring along followers to help you complete certain missions, or call upon dragons, summon demons, slow time, breath fire, or cast spells, and so much more. Taken as a whole, The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim has to be one of the best role playing games to ever make its way on to the Xbox 360.
